ATV Education & Enforcement Effort

Baltimore County police are reminding ATV and dirt bike operators of the need to drive their equipment legally and safely, and to protect their dirt bikes and ATVs from thieves.

As the weather gets warmer, police anticipate that more and more operators will be using their ATVs and more and more thieves will look for opportunities to steal them. ATV and dirt bike operators are reminded to keep their vehicles secure, since thieves try to take them from sheds, garages, and even the back of pick-up trucks.

Operators are also reminded about the laws governing the use of ATVs and dirt bikes. These rules have been put in place for the safety of ATV operators, their friends, family and neighbors.

• ATVs and dirt bikes cannot be operated on roadways or public property.
• They cannot be operated on private property without the written consent of the property owner. The written consent must be with the operator at all times. Those who operate ATVs or dirt bikes on private property without permission could face trespassing charges.
• They cannot be operated within 300 feet of a residence.
• ATVs and dirt bikes cannot be operated between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
• All ATVs and dirt bikes operated anywhere in Baltimore County must display a Baltimore County registration permit.
• A registration card must be carried and shown when requested by a police officer.
• Required safety equipment: Headgear for minors, and protective devices or windscreens to protect the eyes.

Residents anywhere in the county interested in the legal, safe and secure operation of ATVs can check with the Community Outreach Team of their local precinct.

Remember if you see something you do not think is right, please call 911. You can remain annoymous!!!!

Well it seems Auto thefts are going up in the area AGAIN!!!

This is an easy crime to prevent!. All you have to do is 

invest a few dollars and buy some type of theft deterent system as simple as a steering wheel locking device.

Remember when using these devices, place the key lock in towards the

dash. That way the thief can not use a dent puller and pop the lock out.

   Can we promise you that your car will not be stolen if you use this NO! But 

   it will usually force the thief to move onto an easier target. After all, how

   many car thieves do you know that walk around with hack saw blades? (Some do however)

This is one of the few ways to defeat the steering wheel locking devices.

Cut the steering wheel!!!

Scams

It has been brought to our attention that people are going

through the neighborhood claiming that they have been locked

out of thier car and that they needs money to call Pop A Lock

because the police can't open the door and thier child is locked

inside. PLEASE do not give to anyone asking for money for car

repairs, medical bills, whatever. Most of these are scams and

we do not want you to be taken.

Instead, call the police and they will investigate the person.

Scam like this usually result in a number of kind heart people

losing thousands of dollars! Please know who you donate to.

As most of the residents of our community know, we have a

very active Citizens On Patrol under the supervision of our co

chairpersons Herb Scott and Michele Fleming. These people and

others have worked very hard to keep this program afloat.

leave your name and number and someone will call you back
