As we all know, energy cost are rising dramatically. There are several reason for this including Hurricane Katrina. Many people feel that the gasoline companies are gouging the consumer. Many people don't realize but Maryland has a law that is referred to as the Sam's Club law that was passed in 2001 (Commercial Law section 11-404) This law prohibts a company from seeling thier product at below wholesale price thus the consumer has to pay more.
Additionally several years ago, the Maryland Public Service Commission decided to stop regulating the cost of natual gas and most recently the price of electric service, thus you now have choices for this. you don't know, natural gas prices are on the rise, below is the most
recent list as published by Baltimore Gas and Electric. I called the
companies below and there was at least a .15 price difference. So call
all of the companies for you best price!

be a wise consumer and shop around. Since the members of the Maryland
General assembly did nothing to prevent large electric increases due to
the 1999 legislation that was signed into law by then Governor Parris
Glendening I urge everyone to shop around to save whatever money you
can. If there is enough community support we might be able to form a
power group so that our community residents can buy electric at a lower
price.
